Hi Jacob,

I’m not afraid of criticism, and I actually run a couple of other sites where criticisms and debates are welcomed in the comments area. But I do want those comments made directly on my blog. They become comments I can then export and take anywhere. Whether they are negative or positive, they add content and I personally feel do good things for my web property. If someone leaves a comment in the sidewiki, first off not “everyone” can see it. Those who don’t have a Google tool bar for instance won’t see it. If someone has something good to say here, I would like to encourage them to post it on the blog so that I am sure everyone sees it. If someone has a negative comment, I wish to know their concerns as well. If you had posted your comment in the sidewiki, I probably would have never seen it. I don’t have time to monitor that on top of my other campaigns and marketing efforts. I’ve been given no choice in the matter – and while not everyone sees the comments, some will.

I can’t believe people are all worked up over SideWiki.

For most people, there is no need to block SideWiki at the cost of making their URLs look ugly and giving the impression that they are afraid of criticism.
